It seems like the North River family is always looking for a good reason to get together and eat!
This past Sunday was our annual cornhole tournament to raise funds for the Mission Serve project in Buckhorn, Kentucky in June. Right now we have over 50 people registered to go and this past Sunday pushed us closer to our needed funds.
The day began with worship and excellent preaching (I take every opportunity I can to blow my own trumpet!). However, the atmosphere seemed to be filled with anticipation for the the after church festivities. Being able to smell the grill cooking did not help. As soon as the final “Amen” was said tables and chairs were moved outside. Cornhole boards were set up and teams formed.
Cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, and hot dogs were quickly consumed and everyone got in a few practice tosses. Then the competition began.
Miss Sonja had one goal–just to make one hole in one–she made two!! Through out the day there were screams of victory and moans of defeat. Some of the rounds were very intense with very close scores. The competition was fierce and everyone remained “Christlike.” I imagine Peter and Jesus would have made a pretty good cornhole team. Not sure about the Sons of Thunder–James and John.
At the end of the day Sean and David remained undefeated and took home the championship and the bragging rights for one whole year. The day was filled with joy and laughter.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a wonderful success. Thank you for your support of our mission project that helps change the lives both in Kentucky and right here in Roswell.
This is my story…
