This week begins with the time change, moved right into a full moon and closes with the infamous Friday 13. If I were a suspicious kind of guy or paid attention to those kinds of things I might be worried about what types of calamity might fall upon me and my household this week.

However, I am not that suspicious and do not pay attention to those types of things…..but, the start of my week has been a little weird. I have been trying to adjust to the time change–the experts say it may take 3 or 4 days for the body to adjust. It seems as I get older it takes longer! My regular routine and scheduling for Monday was interrupted by several unusual events–computer problems, unusual requests from unusual people, and I gained a pound on my diet instead of losing as I expected (I had been good all weekend–I should have lost!!!). And to top it all off the perpetual rain has kept me from riding my Harley. And now, Friday 13 is just looming over the horizon…woe is me, woe is me.

If I am not careful I will allow all of this to rob me of the many blessings I have received over the same period of time. For example, someone did a random act of kindness and paid for my lunch Sunday after church. A blessing I did not expect but appreciated. I have lost a total of 9 pounds since I started my diet two weeks ago. Eventually, although no one seems to know when, the rain will stop. However, I planted grass seed last week and the rain is helping and I have not had to run the irrigation system. And late at night, when no one is watching, I sneak down into the garage and sit on my motorcycle and pretend I am on the open road (ok that is too much information). But you get the picture.

God is always blessing and there is plenty to see if we would just take the time to notice. Being happy or sad is often found in the choices we make. Sometimes you just have to make a choice to not give so much attention to the negative and actually dwell on the positive. Be still know that God is God.

This is my story…
