When I first moved to South Carolina from Detroit, Michigan I marveled at the beauty of the state. There were mountains, lakes, and an ocean all within a few hours of the university I attended. I had the same experience when I moved to Georgia–The beach has moved a little further away. However, that void has been replaced with some beautiful people.

Early, in both experiences, I stood amazed in the presence of such beauty. She sky full of stars. The wonder of the ocean rolling on to the beach The majesty of the mountains. And the beautiful calm of a lake just before dusk. Often I would stand in awe of a beautiful sunrise or sunset, no matter the geographical location.

Like many, I am guilty of allowing the daily life demand divert me from the beauty that once held me captive. I have been guilty of taking for granted the serene, beautiful, creation of God and allowed it to become mundane. Being separated from people I love, because of the virus, has reminded me of not to take beautiful people for granted either.

This morning during my personal prayer time I read, once again, the words…”God so loved the world…” John 3:16. I know the rest of that verse is wonderful and great, but these 5 words really caught my attention.

These simple words convey a profound truth. God’s love has no limits–“God so loved.” His love is beyond measure. He love defies description. His love is not “love-in-general.” His love is personal. Very personal. His love is for me. His love is for you.

Let me encourage you not to let what once held you captive and in awe to become mundane. I am being brought back to where I can once again “stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene.” Many things will become mundane in our lives–but never should we let the fact that “God so loved the world…” to become mundane.

This is my story…
