Every transformed life begins with a moment–sometimes loud and dramatic, sometimes quiet enough to miss unless you are paying attention.
This Sunday Morning I will begin a sermon series entitled Jesus Changed My Life. I will be taking a look at several individuals recorded in the Gospel of John whose lives were radically changed.
It has been my experience that when the direction of my life has changed it was more the quiet kind. Most of the time I did not experience a lightning-bolt story or a dramatic realization. Although, I have had a few of those. My experience has been more of a start small, slow, gradual change of direction.
I have been reminded that change doesn’t require perfection. It requires direction. A willingness to take one step, then another, even when the path feels unfamiliar. A changed life rarely happens overnight. But it does happen–one decision, one surrender, one brave step at a time. It is my hope and prayer as we look into the lives of Nicodemus, the Samaritan Woman, the man born blind, and Thomas that we might realize that the next changed life might could be our own.
The one thing I found in common in all of these individuals in the Gospel of John is that they were willing to listen to Jesus and to act on His direction changing words. Jesus does not force us to change direction, He calls us to trust and obey. To be honest there is no other way.
This is my story…
