A charismatic fisherman drowning in debt. A troubled woman wrestling with real demons. A young tax collector ostracized by society. A religious leader questioning his faith tradition.

Their names are Simon Peter, Mary, Matthew, and Nicodemus. All names that we recognize from the Bible. But, they can also be found in “The Chosen.” “The Chosen” is the first ever multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus.

Recently, my good friend Kevin Lofton, turned me on this wonderful series. He and I sat in my office before worship this past Sunday and watched the whole first episode. I was amazed, moved, and inspired.

For an hour I found myself walking in the sandals of the first century. I saw Peter in a whole new light, empathized with the struggles of Mary Magdalene, laughed with Matthew, and identified with Nicodemus.

Right now you can watch the first 8 episodes of the first season. Jan and I have decided to watch one episode each night–fighting off the urge to binge watch. I really want some time to let it sink in.

I would like to recommend “The Chosen” to everyone. No matter where you are at in your journey with Jesus Christ, there is something here for you. Even if you do not have a journey with Jesus, it would be worth your time–at least the first episode entitled “I have Called you by Name.”

We found a great option to the news, endless sitcoms, and game shows. You can find it on Youtube, Facebook, and “The Chosen” website. Trust me, I am sure it will be worth your effort.

This is my story…

P.S. I would be open to any questions you may have after watching an episode. I would love to talk with you about it.
