The most significant time on the calendar for the followers of Christ is Holy Week.

Holy Week begins this Sunday with the celebration of Palm Sunday and runs through the following Sunday–Easter Sunday. Here is just a reminder of the importance of this week.

PALM SUNDAY: Jesus rode into Jerusalem. Palm brances, which symbolize triumph or victory, were placed in the Jesus’ path as He rode into the city. “Hosanna! Hosanna!” fills the air.

HOLY MONDAY: On this day Jesus continued His journey toward the cross with significant events that revealed His authority and mission. Most significant, He cleansed the Temple, symbolizing the need for true worship.

HOLY TUESDAY: This was a day of avoiding traps and teaching. The religious leaders set four traps for Jesus.

HOLY WEDNESDAY: This was a quiet day in preparation for the intense days just beyond the horizon.

MAUNDAY THURSDAY: This day centered around the upper room experience with His disciples as they celebrated the Passover Seder Meal

GOOD FRIDAY: This was Jesus’ last day on earth before His resurrection. He was arrested, placed on trial, and crucified.

HOLY SATURDAY: The body of Jesus rested in the tomb. It was the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, a rich man. Preparations were being made to prepare His body for the tomb.

EASTER SUNDAY: “He is not here, he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” Matthew 28:6.

Jesus fulfilled his purpose of God, providing salvation for all who would receive.
