All I can say is Wow!

This past sunday’s Pastor Appreciation event was beyond measure. Jan and I were overwhelmed.

I would like to share some of the things we heard and experienced.

Thanks to Bob Teela for being nice (in contrast to Dan Lewter). As we were eating lunch Sunday, someone in the 20 Something group remarked that Bob had one of the best speaking voices of all time. He compared Bob to James Earl Jones, Morgan Freeman, and I even thought I heard the voice of God mentioned. Thank you Bob for sharing the words of kindness.

Thanks to Dan Lewter for making the day all about him. I have HIS picture of HIM throwing out the first pitch at the Braves Game and HIS picture of HIS name on the marquee at Wrigley Field in Chicago on my mantle in the living room. The Nolan Ryan/Ozzie Smith autograph ball was a wonderful addition to my sports stuff.

The personal notes and cards were so encouraging. The gift cards will allow us to have more “date” nights out to eat! As I begin my 20th year of ministry at North River, I am so proud to be a part of the North River family. We have truly grown to be more than just a church–we are family.

Thank you Malcom for reminding me that my prayers are too long! I will remember that the next time I talk with God.

Thank you Scarlett for being my best friend! I would like to share a part of her letter she wrote to me from school. “I am so joyful we both had matching black cowboy hats! Thank you for being so kind to me. Thank you for being my best friend!” To move past pastor and to become a best friend makes it all worthwhile!

I love North River Baptist Church. I love each and every person who is a part of our North River family. It is a blessing for me to serve as your pastor and friend.

This is my story…
